I was travelling solo for the first time and to say I was skeptical would be an understatement. However, I had an amazing experience staying at Safarnama for 2 nights. The entire team is always smiling and super helpful. They answered all my questions regarding local site seeing very patiently. The breakfast was home-cooked and absolutely delicious. The location is 2 minutes walk to local market where you can also find the famous Kashi Chat Bhandar, 7-8 minutes walk to Kashi Vishwanath temple as well as Dashwamedh ghat. The rooms are cute, tidy and the bathrooms are clean. I wish the noise from the streets was a little less but I think that is prevalent all across Varanasi. It was raining cats and dogs the day I had my train, so I requested them to let me to sit in their cute common area even after the check out. When leaving for railway station, they asked a team member to carry my luggage to main road and find me an auto since the streets were flooded. Loved my stay and would opt to stay again when I visit next time.

Not sure how did this hotel receive 4 stars. Service is poorer than a 2 star hotel. This is my third time stay in the hotel. The rooms are charged pretty heavily but the service is simply pathetic. No matter how costly room you book, the jet spray doesn’t work, there are insects in the restroom and cockroaches in the room. Isn’t it fantastic? You would guess that if you are staying there for the third time they would treat you better. But the same routine follows. They would request you to call them in advance and remind them that you are visiting on such and such date and I did that religiously all the three times. Staff Abhijeet and Harshit, the most overconfident staffs ever. Harshit is overconfident on pretty much everything. He told me again and again that he had checked the room personally yet I received such a room. A day prior to my departure I told him what time I will clear my due food bills and he again overconfidently said that he would ensure that the breakfast would be served at 7.50am since I have an early flight. The bill was cleared but food came at 8.20 after three follow ups. I did not have breakfast and boarded my cab since I wad running late. Such is there “Atithi Devo Bhava” approach. Think they are one of those people who are more inclined to give service to foreigners than there own kind. Hypocrisy at it’s best. Regarding the location. Yes it is near to Godowlia but no cab will come there obviously and they can’t seem to decide where the cab should come Girja Ghar or jangambari. My final verdict. There are thousands of hotels in Varanasi and the price they charge 3k to 4K per night, you can easily get a nice room which is not cockroach and insect infected. And maybe just maybe you won’t encounter overconfident staffs.
