We had an amazing 2-day stay at Umbrella Comfy Stay, Madurai. We stayed in the room named “Subbu,” and it was a wonderful experience. The property is a beautifully maintained 100-year-old building with a unique charm and heritage feel. The best part is its perfect location — just a walkable distance from the famous Meenakshi Amman Temple east tower and south tower. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Madurai🥰

The property stands out for its authentic heritage vibe—think classic Chettinad-inspired or vintage Tamil Nadu elements like high ceilings, a central courtyard (mutram), ornate balconies, and intricate detailing that keeps the space cool and serene even in Madurai's heat. It's restored to preserve historic character while adding conveniences like air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a balcony. It's very narrow entrance upto the second floor is biggest negative of the property. Though I enjoyed the time here. The authentic red clay tiles on the floor is charming.

The rooms are very good to stay, with nice attention to details. The owner is quite nice to talk to and will happily share a lot of things about Madurai. Rate is super reasonable. On next visit to Madurai and Meenakshi Amman, we will prefer to stay here.
