Very Horrible and disgusting staff! My experience with this resort is traumatising because the staff members hit my husband on his head because of some argument. We have registered FIR and everything, just hoping this reaches to everyone and people are aware and be careful before booking this place. And genuinely their services are not good, room’s bathroom stinks. I hope this review will help everyone to make a judgement and not to have a bad experience in your trip.
WARNING TO ALL TOURISTS AND FAMILIES — Please think many times before booking Green Reed Resort. What was supposed to be a peaceful family vacation turned into one of the most traumatic and horrifying experiences we have ever faced while travelling. We had booked this resort for 2 nights. Originally, we were supposed to travel from Mumbai to Guwahati by train, but due to unavoidable circumstances, we ended up driving all the way from Mumbai to Kaziranga — nearly 60 hours of travel with family, a 6-year-old child, and our pet dog. We had informed the resort about our delayed arrival, yet when we finally reached the property around 11 PM, not a single staff member helped us with our luggage. The stay itself was extremely disappointing. The bathrooms smelled badly, there was no proper hot water facility, and the overall cleanliness and hospitality standards were very poor. The next day, while leaving for Majuli, we simply requested if our luggage could be kept safely at the property since we already had another night booked there. Instead of handling the matter professionally, the staff kept us waiting for almost 30 minutes, only to rudely inform us that additional charges would apply. By then, we had already packed everything and were ready to leave. The entire situation was handled with a complete lack of courtesy, professionalism, and basic hospitality. Things became much worse when we informed them that we no longer wished to continue our stay for the second night and requested a refund of the advance amount. While I understand that denying a refund may be their policy, the manager, Mukund, who operates the property on lease, behaved extremely rudely and started blaming us for their “loss,” even though the resort was completely empty and ours was the only booking. He later used abusive language over the phone with my husband. Since the property was on our route, we stopped there only to ask why abusive language was being used with paying guests. We had already paid fully for the first night despite the poor experience. We were not demanding anything unreasonable — only basic respect and decency. What happened after that was absolutely shocking. The situation escalated into violent physical assault. My sister and I were pushed and hit. My brother-in-law was attacked with an iron rod, suffered severe bleeding, required 3 stitches, and also suffered a fracture in his right hand. Imagine the trauma of a 6-year-old child witnessing such violence during what was supposed to be a family holiday. We genuinely feared for our lives. This was not just “bad hospitality” — this became a serious safety issue involving violence against guests. The incident has left a permanent scar on our minds and completely changed our perception of travelling in the region. We have travelled extensively across India, including South India, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, and many other places, but never in our lives have we experienced something this horrifying. The matter became so serious that we had to file an FIR at Kohra Police Station under sections related to assault, criminal intimidation, assault on a woman, grievous hurt, and attempt to murder. An official case has been registered, and the matter is now in court. No tourist, family, woman, or child should ever feel unsafe at a place where they are paying to stay. We have already filed complaints with the authorities and requested strict action against the property and its management. Until proper action is taken, I strongly urge travellers — especially families, women travellers, and tourists with children — to avoid this resort for their own safety. Please do not ignore reviews like this, assuming they are exaggerated. We never imagined that a disagreement over a refund and poor hospitality could turn into physical violence and bloodshed. Without a doubt, this has been the worst and most unsafe travel experience of our lives.
The rooms were okay although the ac of our room was not working… the food of the homestay was not at all good they served us 3 plates of chicken in one small bone and each plate costs 280/- which is very high the the size of the chicken pieces is smaller than the size of chicken popcorn… there were a lot of electricity problems too. However i like the bihu dance at the evening organised by the owner.
They have a wonderful service. The food they serve is of good standard quality. The rooms are good and clean and hygienic. Overall it was a good experience. I stayed for two nights and I will like to come again in future. They help in booking the jeep and elephant safari too.
I had a wonderful 3-day stay at this resort. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, and the staff was extremely cooperative and friendly. The overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing, making it a truly pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and peaceful stay.
