Wonderful stay from check-in to checkout! The room was spotless, the bed was super comfortable, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. Perfect location for exploring the area. The breakfast buffet had plenty of fresh options.The only downside was that parking was a bit tight. Would definitely stay here again!"

We had previously stayed at Summit Hotels in Gangtok and Pelling, where the hospitality was exceptional. Naturally, we expected the same at Summit Oakden Resort & Spa, Darjeeling, but unfortunately, this turned out to be our most disappointing hotel stay. After a tiring 5-hour journey from Pelling, we checked in around 3:30 PM. No one welcomed us, offered us a glass of water, or even greeted us warmly. The front desk, especially one female staff member, came across as arrogant and indifferent, making us feel unwelcome from the very beginning. At the other Summit properties, we were offered complimentary evening tea and snacks. Here, nothing was offered until we specifically requested it. We were initially refused and only received tea with a few plain sandwiches after pointing out that the complimentary tea was mentioned on the Summit Hotels website. It wasn’t about the food—it was the attitude. It felt as though the staff were doing us a favour rather than extending basic hospitality. To be fair, the male restaurant staff were polite, helpful, and courteous throughout our stay. No one was openly rude during our two-night stay, but the overall lack of warmth, courtesy, and guest care—especially at the front desk—left a very poor impression. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcomed and valued, and sadly, that was missing here. We hope the management takes this feedback seriously, as this property falls well below the standards we experienced at other Summit Hotels.

I travelled to Darjeeling for the first time with my wife and daughter, and honestly, this hotel gave us one of the best experiences we could have asked for. The stay was cozy, relaxing, and truly memorable. The view from our room was absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing — the perfect place to rejuvenate and unwind. One thing to note is that the lane where the hotel is located is not accessible by vehicles, so if you are carrying heavy luggage, it’s best to inform the hotel staff in advance so they can assist you from the drop-off point. The staff members were extremely welcoming, polite, and always greeted us with warm smiles. We were welcomed with delicious Darjeeling tea, which was a lovely touch. The rooms were spacious and well-equipped with a tea-making station, a coffee table, and a sofa-cum-bed. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained as well. One small suggestion to the hotel would be to use anti-skid tiles in the bathrooms, as the floor can become slippery when wet. Coming to the food — it was absolutely lip-smacking and delicious. Although we felt the buffet spread had somewhat limited options, everything served was of really good quality and taste. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and hats off to the entire hotel staff for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable!

The hotel is situated on mall road close to market (5-7 minutes walk) and it’s facing mountains from the hotel room window. There is a nice viewing terrace on the 1st floor ( reception is on the top and rooms are all downstairs). The view from the terrace is mesmerising specially in the early morning. The staff is very welcoming and always up for the service. They have a quite a good food option including some local dishes which is delicious. Overall a very good experience.
