The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, so no complaints there. The service was decent, though nothing particularly memorable. My biggest disappointment was the TV. It's not a smart TV, and many of the channels weren't even subscribed to. We were there during the FIFA World Cup, and despite everyone at the hotel—from the reception staff to the restaurant staff—speaking in English, the only sports channel available had Hindi commentary. It wasn't a deal-breaker, but it definitely took away from the experience and wasn't something I expected from a hotel in this category. We had breakfast at the hotel once, and it was pretty average. We also ordered a plate of chicken pakoras, which cost around ₹500, and honestly, it wasn't worth the price. The nearby mall has plenty of restaurants with much better food and better value, so I'd recommend eating there instead. Overall, the rooms were the highlight of the stay, but the food and entertainment options left quite a bit to be desired.

Heritage hotel right at the centre of action at Darjeeling. Well appointed, good sized rooms and outstanding service. The one thing to note is that they have rooms across 3-4 floors and no elevators, can be slightly difficult for the seniors. Nonetheless we had a wonderful stay. The restaurant service both at breakfast and dinner was amazing, with a happy crew serving delicious items.

We had a wonderful stay at The Elgin Darjeeling and it truly felt like living inside a slice of colonial-era Darjeeling. One of the biggest highlights of this property is its location. It is situated right in the middle of the lively Mall Road area, close to all the activity, cafés, shops, and local attractions — yet the moment you step inside the hotel premises, everything becomes calm, quiet, and serene. The property feels surprisingly spacious and peaceful despite being in such a busy part of town. The heritage charm of the hotel is its strongest asset. The rooms beautifully preserve the old British colonial character with classic wooden interiors, vintage furniture and elegant décor that give the entire stay a timeless feel. Unlike many modern hotels, this place has personality and atmosphere. The rooms are also very spacious, comfortable, and well maintained. Hospitality was warm and courteous throughout our stay. The staff were polite, attentive, and always willing to help, which added greatly to the overall experience. The property itself has lovely old-world lounges, gardens, and common spaces that make you want to slow down and simply enjoy the Darjeeling weather with a cup of tea. That said, there are a few areas where the experience could improve: * The breakfast spread was strictly average and did not quite match the premium heritage experience offered by the hotel. * The rooms do not have fans. While Darjeeling weather is generally pleasant, we personally prefer having a fan for air circulation during sleep. * There is no lift/elevator in the property, which can make climbing to the 2nd or 3rd floor tiring, especially for elderly guests or families with luggage. Overall though, the charm, ambience, heritage feel, spacious rooms, and peaceful atmosphere far outweigh the shortcomings. If you appreciate old-world luxury and want an authentic colonial Darjeeling experience rather than a standard modern hotel, this property is definitely worth considering. A generous and well-deserved 4/5 stars from our side.

I found the food to be average—perfectly fine, but not necessarily the highlight of the trip. I recently returned to The Elgin, not for a room, but to utilize their spa services for a hair wash. The experience was exceptional, particularly regarding the staff's professionalism and warmth. Traveling with a **four-year-old** can often make salon appointments feel rushed or stressful, but the spa team went out of their way to ensure my daughter was comfortable and entertained while I had my hair washed. Service & Staff:The team is extremely kind and attentive. Their ability to handle a young child with such care speaks volumes about their service standards. The spa itself is immaculately clean and tidy, providing a serene environment that feels like a true escape.
