I stayed in the terrace room (Room 402), which offers a direct front view of the Taj Mahal — the view was truly amazing and the highlight of my stay. However, the room itself had some drawbacks. There was no television, and the condition of the walls was quite poor. The washroom was clean and hygienic, but some basic amenities like a comb were missing. I also faced a small issue with room service. When I ordered kachori and bhaji, the staff member kept knocking on the door continuously instead of using the already installed doorbell, which was a bit inconvenient. Another issue was with basic facilities. Drinking water was not provided properly — I had to ask for it, and they only gave 2 small 250 ml bottles that too at night, even though I checked in at 3 PM and stayed until 12 PM the next day. This is a basic necessity, and I had to purchase 3–4 extra bottles myself. On the positive side, the staff was friendly, and the environment was peaceful with no noise. However, there were network connectivity issues, no telephone in the room, and no information slip (like Wi-Fi password) provided. Overall, I would rate my stay 4/5 mainly because of the amazing Taj Mahal view and good staff, but improvements are needed in room maintenance and basic facilities
Not at all hygienic. There is no lift, so you have to take the stares which is very narrow, I doubt adult people can take steps there. This is Highly not recommended for people who wants a better place for stay. I booked it as it’s near to Taj Mahal, the only advantage they have !!
Very good location. In the old town and Indian style. The young man was very pleasant, helpful, friendly. There were some problems with the electrical plugs, but we managed. There was hot water for washing. It's not exactly a five-star hotel, but it was fine. Beautiful view from the top. Greetings to the young man's father! Very nice people!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 — Good Stay Near the Taj Mahal I had a pleasant stay at Shahjahan Hotel in Agra. The vibe of the place is nice, and the location is excellent — just a 10-minute walk to the Taj Mahal. The area feels safe, and everything you might need is available nearby. The food served at the hotel is good, and the staff is polite and helpful, which really adds to the overall experience. One thing that could be improved is the cleanliness. The rooms are okay, but the blankets definitely need better washing and maintenance. Overall, a good budget-friendly option with a great location and friendly staff. Recommended with just a small note for cleanliness improvement.
I’m not someone with high expectations — give me a clean room, a usable washroom, and fresh towels, and I’m happy. This hotel somehow managed to fail at all three. The room smelled like a mix of dust and old mold. The washroom was so cramped I couldn’t even sit straight on the toilet. And speaking of the toilet — dirty, yellow, worn out, and clearly past its expiry date. The sink was just as miserable, with a tap that wouldn’t stop leaking. The towels deserve a special mention — worn out, threadbare, and so old they looked like they’d survived multiple generations. Calling them towels is generous. Bedsheets and blankets had that dusty, unwashed smell that instantly makes you regret booking the place. To add to the charm, part of the staircase slab to the second floor had literally fallen off, exposing the iron rods like a construction site abandoned mid-project. And when you enter, you’re welcomed by a gutka-chewing gentleman at the reception, along with a lovely background smell of cigarette smoke — exactly the kind of ambience you don’t want in a hotel. The only redeeming factor is that it’s a few minutes’ walk from the Taj Mahal and cheaper than the usual hotel prices these days. But honestly, even that barely compensates for how below average this place is.
