Owner was a dishonest person. The property and location are nice, and one of the rooms we got was also decent. But the biggest issue with this stay was the owner’s behaviour, which felt dishonest, pushy, and very unprofessional throughout our experience. We had booked two rooms for two people, expecting both rooms to be of the same type/category as shown in the listing. But when we reached, one room matched the photos, while the second room was very small and completely different. This immediately felt misleading. Since the bigger room was enough for both of us, we told the owner that we would not use the second room. He said that if he rented it to someone else, he would split the amount 50-50 with us. Later, he gave that room to another couple and told us he rented it for ₹2,000, so he gave us only ₹1,000. But when we checked with the couple, they said they had paid ₹4,000. This was the biggest red flag for us because the 50-50 arrangement was suggested by the owner himself, and even then he did not follow it honestly. During the stay, he also kept pushing us again and again to book trips and transport through him, even after we clearly said no. The prices he quoted were much higher than local options, which made the whole thing feel even more untrustworthy. One incident was especially uncomfortable. The owner entered our room without knocking, ringing the bell, or asking for permission. I was staying with a female companion, so this felt like a serious privacy and safety concern. Breakfast was also very basic and disappointing. And at checkout, he pressured me to write a 5-star Google review in front of him, which felt forced and unfair. Overall, the property may look good and the location may be nice, but the experience was ruined by the owner’s dishonest behaviour, repeated upselling, inflated pricing, privacy concerns, and forced review request. I would not recommend this stay.

Whitehouse house boat: A memorable stay with wonderful hospitality and breathtaking views! Our family had a wonderful stay at Whitehouse house boat on Dal Lake, Srinagar. The houseboat offers spectacular views of the lake, mountains, gardens, and beautiful water lilies all around. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, with large windows overlooking the lake and well-maintained washrooms. One of the highlights was the delicious breakfast served on the deck with stunning lake views. Mr. Ibrahim, the owner, was extremely courteous and attentive, ensuring our comfort throughout the stay and adding a personal touch to the experience. He also arranged a lovely Shikara ride with an excellent guide. Mr. Ibrahim recommended Mr. Shabir Pala’s taxi service, which was outstanding. Mr. Pala took us across Kashmir as per our itinerary in clean, punctual, and comfortable cabs. His warmth and local insights made the journey even more memorable. White House Group of Houseboats stands out as the last in the row on Dal Lake near ghat 12, offering an unobstructed panoramic view of the lake, mountains, and passing shikaras. We enjoyed peaceful mornings and evenings on the deck. Ibrahim (owner) was exceptionally helpful, assisting with our onward travel to Zojila Pass, itinerary planning, and arranging early breakfast. The in-house shikara ride was a highlight, though it's wise to confirm rates upfront. Nearby Bollywood Restaurant serves tasty meals. Overall, it provides an authentic, serene Dal Lake experience with excellent service and great value. Highly recommended — a place that makes you want to stay longer.

I had a wonderful stay here. The house boat is charming & very traditional, with lovely decor. & it has an enviable location, right at the end of a row of boats, so all bedrooms have stunning, unobstructed views of the lake. It was magical waking up every morning to see the sun rising over the mountains - unforgettable! But what really made my stay a true pleasure was Mr Ibrahim's fantastic Kashmiri hospitality. He was warm, attentive & went out of his way to make sure my stay was comfortable here. Imran, who helps out on the boat, was also so kind - you must take a shikara ride with him on the lake! Overall, I recommend White House without any reservations - don't hesitate in booking!
