Extremely disappointing stay and very unprofessional management response My partner and I stayed at The Raj Palace - Jaipur, and unfortunately it turned out to be one of the most disappointing hotel experiences in more than 40 years of travelling. The room - priced at around €850 per night - was completely unacceptable for a property that claims to be a luxury palace hotel. During our stay we experienced several serious issues: • Mice in the room • Curtains that did not properly cover the windows • Beds not properly made • Old and worn bedsheets • Safety concerns with electrical switches during the night Overall, the condition of the room felt closer to a 2–3 star hotel at best, certainly not the luxury experience that was advertised. It honestly reminded us more of an episode of Fawlty Towers than a five-star palace hotel. During our stay, the manager Ms. Shalu spoke with us and even acknowledged that our experience was “disgusting,” promising that the situation would be addressed. Unfortunately, no meaningful follow-up ever happened. My partner later sent a detailed email to the hotel management explaining everything we experienced. Initially there appeared to be a response, but when we attempted to reply, the entire email body had disappeared, leaving only the hotel logo and header with no written content at all. This was extremely unprofessional and concerning. When we later posted our honest feedback online, the hotel posted what appeared to be a generic, AI-style response simply to complete the review formality, rather than genuinely addressing the issues. Even more shocking was the second response written by the General Manager, Ankur Rara Jethlia, posted on Tripadvisor. Instead of responding professionally, the reply was mocking, making fun about “legendary mice,” implying that the curtains had somehow been altered by us, and making light of the electrical safety issues we raised. We found this tone deeply inappropriate and extremely disappointing for a hotel that claims to be a luxury establishment. For us - my partner and I - these public accusations and insinuations against us are extremely serious. We consider the statements made in that response to be defamatory toward us as guests, and we are therefore seeking legal advice and will be instructing our lawyer to review this matter and take appropriate action if necessary. Instead of resolving a genuine complaint from paying guests, the management chose to mock the situation publicly, which reflects very poorly on the professionalism and standards of customer service at The Raj Palace - Jaipur. Based on our experience, I strongly recommend that travellers think very carefully before choosing to stay here. What should have been a memorable stay in a heritage palace became a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience both during and after our visit. Muzafar

Had a wonderful experience at The Raj Palace. The property is beautiful and truly gives a royal feel. The staff was very polite and the overall hospitality was great. Definitely a great place to experience heritage luxury in Jaipur. 👑

The Raj hotel was an amazing experience. We didn’t love our room because there were no windows with natural light so they immediately moved us to the other room with beautiful light. The breakfast was delicious. The service was beyond and the building itself was a beautiful as an interior designer.

There is something very cool about staying at a palace in India…very unique experience. The staff was amazing! Always helpful and even offered to walk us across the street to the nearest ATM. Breakfast buffet was great and we had two dinners here that were also good. But staying in a palace also has its drawbacks. WiFi was always spotty, courtyards and old elevators contributed to a noisy environment, AC went on and off all night so not always restful, and the workout room needs to be updated. Overall, I am still glad to have stayed here for 3 nights and again, really appreciated the service!
