We had a pleasant stay at Shangrila. The staff is courteous and helpful in every way. The room is a little small as compared to the pics shown. The breakfast is hearty but the choices are a bit limited. Location is great as it is 7 or 8 lins walk to mall road and eateries and cafes are close by. It is very close to clock tower. Ms Anju at the restaurant was very attentive and charming. Housekeeping is proactive. Reception staff, and the young lady at reception was very nice and proactive at giving put all the information. But it sure isn't a three star as marketed. But, overall worth the prcie they charge.

It's probably the biggest mistake of my life that I decided to stay in this hotel. The staffs are so rude, especially the gentleman named Aniket. The service at the hotel starting from check in, food and beverage, housekeeping everything was terrible. ★The lights in the room don't work properly. ★The floor was broken and dirt visible which was covered by floor mat. ★The server named most probably Aniket was literally swearing on us upon asking for the food which took 50 mins. Our breakfast was included with the room plan, he literally said complementary food always takes more time. Never in my life I heard anyone saying that. ★The bathroom water was clogged for all 3 nights which they never cleaned upon multiple requests. Would never recommend anyone about this hotel and will never visit again. Only the lady in the reception was nice and the housekeepers always used to make our bed and clean the room. Was literally a nightmare.

There is nothing worse than looking forward to a mountain getaway and having it soured by hospitality that feels more like a confrontation than a service. Even if you aren't at a five-star property, basic hygiene and respect are the bare minimums While the rooms themselves were decent, our three-night stay here was completely ruined by some of the worst service I have ever experienced in the hospitality industry. The service was beyond "poor" it was disrespectful. There is an older lady on the staff who was incredibly rude. When we checked in, we were told breakfast was included, but she later informed us (quite aggressively) that we could only choose either Indian or Continental, not both. This was never mentioned during booking. On our final day, she completely ignored my friend, who had to call out "excuse me" four times while she simply turned a deaf ear. Hygiene Issue's The cleanliness is questionable at best. We were served water in a dirty glass that still had bits of tissue stuck to it. When we pointed this out, the staff dismissively told us that was just "how they were cleaned." It’s unacceptable to be told that visible debris in a drinking glass is standard procedure. Room Amenities: The bathroom was a disaster. The water pressure was non-existent, and the geyser didn't work properly. When we asked for a fix, nothing happened. We eventually had to ask for a bucket and tub just to take a bath, and even those were delivered in poor condition—the tub was dirty and the mug provided was broken. A hotel is a service-based business, but the staff here acted like they were doing us a favor by letting us stay. We ended up skipping breakfast on our second day just to avoid the rudeness and ate out instead. Unless you want to be ignored or insulted by the staff, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere in Darjeeling.

The only reasons this hotel deserves even two stars are its location and the reception staff, who were courteous and helpful. The rooms are quite old, and the additional bed provided was almost unusable. When we requested an extra blanket, the staff did provide one, but it was in poor condition and had multiple holes. Breakfast was extremely disappointing. The service was very slow, and the staff at the breakfast counter were unhelpful. When we asked how long it would take, the response was simply, “It takes time,” without any real clarification. In fact, right in front of us, two different groups of guests left without eating because of the delays. The breakfast itself was minimal—just one paratha with tea or coffee—which is unacceptable for the price being charged. Overall, for the amount I paid, this hotel does not come close to offering value for money.

This is a great place to stay, especially because of its convenient location just a short distance from the Clock Tower, making it easy to explore the nearby market and local attractions. The property offers a comfortable and pleasant stay overall. While the room prices might feel slightly expensive for budget-sensitive travelers, the facilities and service provided help justify the cost. One of the best things about this place is the supportive and polite staff. They are helpful and responsive, which makes the stay more comfortable and stress-free. The rooms are equipped with essential amenities, including a geyser that works 24/7, so you can access hot water anytime. A hairdryer is also available inside the washroom, which is a convenient addition for guests. For colder days, a heater can be arranged for an additional ₹400 charge. Another highlight is the rooftop area, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Kanchenjunga, especially on clear mornings. The rooms also include a TV with channels for entertainment. Overall, it’s a well-maintained property with good facilities and a prime location.
