One of the best hotels I have stayed in, also cost effective, respectful (which goes both ways👍🏾) and friendly,

I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Esquire. The manager - Mr. Opi was incredibly kind and extremely warm. The hospitality and food was truly good!

Was there for the Aizwal Marathon for a day and had booked a double occupancy room for 2k. Checked in late at around 2pm-3pm and informed the front desk lady that will check out the next day at the same time. She told me that as it would be well passed checkout time I would have to bear the half of that days room rent for which i agreed. While checking out another lady was at the front desk and she handed me a bill of one days room rent (2k) and upon paying that she told me that i have to again make a payment (1k) which she told me was for housekeeping charges and forwarded me her QR code for payment. Isn't this just scam?? Does the management know of this??

We had booked a single room and had informed the staff on call prior about our arrival timing and everything, but when we arrived at the location around 10am as discussed, they were unable to have a room ready for us and made us wait 2 hrs. Then they shifted us from one room to the other saying there were people who booked that specific room. My question is why put us in a room when it was already booked? It does not make sense. The we came back and checked into the room only to find an orange missing from the pair that we had bought as a gift for a dear one. We assumed one of the staff must've stolen or eaten it and considered it an embarrassment to even call them out on it. They had also manhandledly placed our luggage with our footwear scattered here and there with no consideration of our belongings. There was no proper drinking water available so they brought some random water in an open jug covered with crinkled foil. But worse is that THEY DO NOT HAVE THE DECENCY TO KNOCK before entering . We were leisuring and to our surprise one of the housekeepers just barged into the room and with absolutely no remorse unashamedly. Thil thring leh deuh chu , whilst we were in the room , somebody came in unannounced and started spraying something all of a sudden. We figured it was an air freshener ,but we had never encountered such poor putrid service ever. The staffs are extremely unprofessional, slow , lousy and unapologetic. We are here to express how disappointed this property has made us within the small time frame that we had stayed. Bad management all in all. If something can be rectified, why wasn't it done way earlier? I would suggest hire staffs who are competent throughout and have a decent background in hotel management because rooms are good and was it not for the staff it would've run better. Even my kaam wali masi seems more professional than whoever we came across.

Imagine visiting Aizawl on a holiday, this hotel allows online booking so I booked a room through Agoda and paid for it which is non-refundable by the way. Long story short….me and my girl went to the hotel, everything as planned but when we approach the girl at the reception she asked if we were Married or not and if so, she needs proof of a wedding photo. We aren’t married so it’s a no go, money lost and disappointed. It’s a shameful experience overall. So, heads up for any couples trying to book a room in the future. Just think of it as a strict family hotel. If you’re not married you CANNOT STAY and there’s no way of knowing this because you have to approach the hotel first but the Hotel allows you to book a room online🤣 that’s the trait of a dying hotel
